With Steph Curry and Chris Paul having so many battles over the years, some speculated it could be difficult for the two to move past their rivalry now that they’re teammates. When asked about this on NBC Sports Bay Area, Curry said it’s not something that will be difficult at all.

“No, that will be pretty easy,” Curry said. “You get over that pretty quickly once the trade happens.” Curry continued, saying, “We’re good friends. He was a mentor of mine when I was coming up. That makes him sound really old, but I’m right there with him. 15 years ago, when I was coming into the league, he took me under his wing. I got to work out with him. He showed me what it meant to prepare as an NBA athlete.”

While the two veteran point guards have had some intense battles over the years, their relationship off the court has remained strong, which leaves them both excited to be teammates. Fans often believe players have personal beef with one anther because of the way they battle on the court, and while that may be true in some cases, Paul and Curry have no issues with each other.

Paul’s role on the Warriors has yet to be defined, but he should provide the team with valuable minutes even at this stage of his career.
