Phil Foden is a man of many talents, from catch of the day to match of the day.

This season, the England international has been Manchester City’s standout player, leading them to the brink of an FA Cup and Premier League double.

The 23-year-old has scored 24 goals this season, building on his treble from last year, and his performances have already earned him one of the most coveted player of the year awards in the sport.

He enjoys nothing more than drawing a monster out of one, though, when he is not kicking the ball into the back of the net.

When the football player has some free time away from the field, he and his father, Phil Sr., take Foden fishing, which Foden grew up loving.

According to the City man’s earlier explanation, “It’s probably not something that 95% of football boys enjoy.”

People sometimes remark, “What a strange sport to enjoy,” when they learn that the odd one enjoys fishing. They don’t get why you find it enjoyable.

It goes without saying that they must go test it. It seems like the ideal pastime for taking a break and relaxing.

Foden was scheduled to go fishing with his dad, therefore he was unable to join the City teammates in celebrating their 2018 Premier League title.

Additionally, he has posted a number of his best catches on social media from his travels to lakes in Spain and the UK, where he caught his biggest capture to date—a monstrous 130-pound catfish.

“I was probably about six or seven and my dad had a fishing rod of his dad’s and said we should go and try it out,” Foden previously told the City website.

We eventually started attending every weekend once I fell in love with it. I vividly recall my very first catch. It wasn’t much because I was still learning, but the thrill of getting one for the first time is unmatched.

“I believe that’s the excitement that entices you to return, but it’s also an opportunity for me to unwind and spend time with my dad.

“I just find it really enjoyable, and I think it’s really good after games when you have to rest your legs.”

“There are strategies. Knowing where to find the fish, where to fish, and how long to fish are all important.

“I fish simple when I get the occasional day off, but there’s a lot behind it. Even though I’m not an expert, I can still catch.

He still prefers to go fishing with his dad, but there’s another man he would really like to throw out next to.

“Lionel Messi would be my partner if I had to spend the entire day fishing,” he disclosed. Ever since my childhood, he has been my hero.

Foden also shown that, even in the absence of practice, he is not a weak archer.

“I generally love all types of sport,” he continued, “but aside from fishing, I don’t do any other sports.” Although I don’t play much, I do enjoy darts.

When I’m with England, we have a dartboard, and some of the boys claim I’m a natural. Though we don’t truly compete, they always look shocked when I pull off a 180.
