Before Pebble Beach, Aston Martin DBR22 made its premiere

The open-cockpit supercar takes its inspiration from the legendary DBR1.

Aston Martin has revealed yet another gorgeous open-cockpit speedster – the DBR22.

Built to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Q by Aston Martin, the brand’s bespoke customization division, only a limited number will be made for select customers.

Set to be showcased at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this week, the DBR22 draws inspiration from iconic Aston racecars such as the DBR1 and DB3S.

Although it looks very similar at first glance to the recent V12 Speedster, there are a number of key differences.

Up front is a unique carbon fiber grille without the typical pattern of other Aston Martin grilles.

The DBR22 also features a small windscreen, whereas the V12 Speedster only has some small optional wind deflectors.

There’s also a set of unique center-locking 21-inch wheels and a horseshoe-shaped vent in the hood to really set the Aston Martin DBR22 apart.

Larger vents in the front quarter panels and sleeker flying buttresses at the back of the car also give it a more purposeful and streamlined appearance.

Under the skin, it features a 3D-printed rear subframe, marking the first time Aston Martin has used such technology.

Like the V12 Speedster, the DBR22 features the same 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine hooked up to an eight-speed transmission.

However, it’s slightly more powerful with 705hp (715PS) on tap.

It’s faster, too, with a top speed of 319km/h (198mph).

Plus, it gets from 0-97km/h (0-60mph) in just 3.4 seconds.

The interior is quite similar to the Speedster, however, with the same buttons and screens.

The only notable change is the lack of the chassis-stiffening bar that runs down the middle of the Speedster’s cabin.

You’ll be able to see the Aston Martin DBR22 in person for yourself at the 2022 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance from August 19 to 21.
